Professor Marcos Barros serves as the Head Professor at Gracie Barra Lake Norman, bringing more than 30 years of experience in teaching and training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu (BJJ). A 5th-degree black belt under the legendary Master Carlos Gracie Jr., Professor Marcos began his teaching journey at the Gracie Barra Headquarters in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, where he worked directly under Master Carlos’ guidance.

In 2005, he expanded his mission to the United States, helping to grow Gracie Barra’s global presence by opening schools in Brazil, England, South Korea, and across the United States. His leadership extends beyond his academy as the Regional Director for Illinois and South Korea, supporting the development of the Gracie Barra team worldwide.

Professor Marcos’ dedication to Gracie Barra earned him a place in the prestigious Gracie Barra Legacy Hall under the Legacy Wing, an honor recognizing more than 25 years of inspiring leadership and contributions to the team.

As a decorated competitor, Professor Marcos has achieved significant titles in the Worlds, Pan-American, and Brazilian Nationals Championships, cementing his reputation as a skilled and accomplished athlete. However, his greatest measure of success comes from the growth and accomplishments of his students.

Professor Beto Barros is a highly accomplished Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu practitioner and a 3rd-degree black belt who has dedicated his life to the art of BJJ. He began his journey under the guidance of Master Carlos Gracie Jr. and Professor Marcos Barros, both influential figures in the global Jiu-Jitsu community.

With an impressive competition record, Professor Beto has earned prestigious titles in major tournaments, including Worlds, PanAms and Nationals, His success on the mats is matched by his passion for teaching and developing students, which led him to open and lead as owner and head instructor at Gracie Barra The Loop in downtown Chicago and Gracie Barra Decatur, IL

Beyond his academy work, Professor Beto has traveled the globe, sharing his knowledge and expertise through seminars and training camps. He continues to inspire and guide students, helping them reach their full potential both in competition and in life.
